Driving Tours in Stowe

Couple-in-autumn-ParkExplore scenic back roads and winding country lanes as you take in the autumn-colored trees and hills. Here are two recommended driving tours to try. Each tour begins at Main Street in Stowe at the Visitor Info Center.

·         Moscow and Little River

A short 7.4-mile jaunt along the Little River takes you to the small, quaint town of Moscow, named for the Russian metropolis. This is a great route for stopping to fish, with lovely scenery all along the way.

·         Edson Hill and West Hill

A slightly longer drive takes you on a famous route up Edson Hill underneath beautiful maples that arch over the road. Continue to see picturesque views of the valley looking across the Worcester Mountains.

The waterway borders Mount Mansfield State Forest, which displays lovely warm hues in the autumn. Look for wildlife along the shore and on the water, such as deer, moose, black bears, or osprey and ducks.

Drift boat trips are offered by The Fly Rod Shop and run daily from September 16 through October 22, 2016. Rides are an hour long and can accommodate 2-6 people. Don’t forget your camera, sunglasses, and insect repellant!
