Beat back the winter blahs and have some fun, instead. The Stowe Winter Carnival offers unique, amusing, and even zany ways to enjoy the dead of winter.
Winter Events in Stowe Spice Up January 2017
The week of January 14 to January 28, ski down to Stowe and help paint the town white. There will be winter shenanigans for all ages.
Snow Golf, Broomball, and Snow Volleyball
The Winter Carnival is famous for its wacky winter sports, including golfing in the snow – in costumes – and a volleyball tournament in the snow instead of sand. A friendly round of Canadian broomball will top off the sporting events – a beer garden and bonfire will follow.
Watch professional ice carvers create masterpieces from huge ice blocks at Spruce Peak Plaza at Stowe Mountain Resort. Guests will get to contribute to a People’s Choice Award. Later, meet the ice carvers and quiz them on their craft.
Kids will love the various free skates at Stowe Mountain Resort and the Ice Rink at Spruce Peak. There will also be a kids’ event (“Kids Karnival Chaos”) with games, a DJ, costumed characters, and a bouncy house.
Live Music and Karaoke
Live music nights will pepper the Winter Carnival schedule with various entertainment at the Matterhorn. Local restaurant Piecasso will also host a karaoke night with some friendly competition and prizes.
Sharpen your wits for the Pub Style Trivia Challenge at Piecasso. Giveaways will be handed out after each round, and there will be draft beer specials all night.
Come enjoy January and winter events in Stowe at the Winter Carnival, and while you’re in town, stay with us at the cozy and charming Green Mountain Inn.
