For a true taste of Stowe, Vermont, you must get yourself to the Stowe Brewers Festival. This two-day event isn’t just about tasting great brews, though – it’s also about music, food, and fun.

Craft-beerThe festival will happen on Friday and Saturday, July 28 and 29, 2017 and will include three tasting sessions – one on Friday evening and two on Saturday.

A ticket to the festival will buy you a commemorative tasting glass and access to one four-hour-long session on your chosen day. Take your three-ounce glass with you and get 15 tastes from over 40 local and national breweries and cideries. You’ll also get five spirit-tasting tickets to sample spirits from local distilleries.

Along with tasting Vermont craft beer and spirits, you’ll enjoy a line-up of live music, workshops, food trucks, and a vendor fair. For the music festival portion of the event, the entertainment will include RumbleCat on Friday, the Seth Yacovone Blues Trio on Saturday afternoon, and Pace Car Joe on Saturday night.

The concert meadow is found at Trapp Family Lodge, and events are put on by Stowe Performing Arts. The outdoor venue is a sloping lawn that affords a perfect view and a great listening experience.

Hot-air-balloons-in-stowe-vermontFrom July 7-9, 2017, the balloons are launching bright and early every morning at Stoweflake Mountain Resort. The day progresses with food, wine and beer garden, live entertainment, children’s activities, and a ticketed evening launch.

Each morning of the festival, the balloons will launch at 6:30 a.m. sharp against the rising sun. Come and watch this first daily launch for free.

Every evening, pay admission for the sunset launch at 7 p.m. Kids 12 and under are free.

Festival and Entertainment Information

The gates for the festival open daily at 4 p.m. The price of admission gets you access to the children’s corner with fun activities like face painting and bouncy houses. You’ll also get access to the food, beer, and wine tent, gift shops, the spa tent, live music starting at 5 p.m., and the sunset launch.

During the weekend of June 23-25, 2017, Vermont will be host to the fourth annual Stowe B3 Fest – Bikes, Brews & Beats. This is a mountain bike festival that includes, biking, adult beverages, plenty of tasty food options, and a lot of fantastic live music.

One of the best parts of this event is that admission is free. This means more people can partake in the outdoor activities and have a thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Getting Things Started on Friday

A Full Day of Riding on Saturday

The riding will begin at 10 AM on Saturday. Again, it will be in coordination with the Stowe Mountain Bike Club. Riders of all ages are welcome to join in the ride. The day will end at 4 PM with special provisions from Stowe Cider, a premier brewery that provides fresh beer and ciders.

Wrapping it All up on Sunday

The event will conclude with a final ride on Sunday morning that will start at 10 AM.

As its name suggests, Long Trail is a lengthy trek. For a fairly short hike, head to this trail, which is 1.4 miles long and will take you on a gradual incline up to the Pinnacle, one of the peaks in the Worcester Range. Cast a Line at the Vermont Fly Fishing Show

The perfect event for anglers and fly fishers, the 2016 Vermont Fly Fishing Show will be taking place the weekend of September 9, 10, and 11. Come out to The Fly Rod Shop and get a guided stream tour, see fly tying demonstrations and on-the-water presentations, attend casting clinics, and shop a range of vendors selling all kinds of fly fishing equipment. Grab some food or a beer and enjoy the atmosphere of like-minded fishing lovers gathered in one place. This is one occasion for fly fishing in Stowe you don’t want to miss if you’re at all serious about angling.

Free Casting Clinics in Stowe

Fly-fishing

Casting clinics will be part of the fly fishing show. However, the Fly Rod Shop also offers introductory lessons for beginners or those who feel that their fly fishing skills are a bit rusty, from May through September. The casting clinics in Stowe are a great chance to gain and/or hone some skills for this fun sport. The clinics are totally free and will include information about equipment and the anatomy of a stream. You’ll also learn a couple of different casts with guided instructions at the pond near the Fly Rod Shop. This will include tips and tricks for various situations and weather conditions.

Clinics are available Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Equipment is provided by the shop, but feel free to bring your own. Pre-registration is required, so sign up to pick up some fun skills!
