Old to New: Stowe’s 250 Anniversary to the 4th Year of Art on Park in Stowe, Vermont

From humble beginnings 250 years ago to being recognized as one of America’s Top Twelve Small-Town ArtPlaces (awarded by ArtPlace – a collaboration of 13 leading national and regional foundations and six of the nation’s largest banks), Stowe, Vermont has grown to be the place that even visitors love to call home for a while.Art on park

On June 8, 1763, Benning Wentworth signed away the deed for eight new towns, one being Stowe, Vermont.  The original village of Stowe was located at the corner of Stagecoach Road and Route 100 and by 1800, there were 23 families living in town.  The village has grown substantially since then and now offers a vibrant atmosphere to its more than 4,000 residents, including a celebration on June 8, 2013 with plans for an ice cream social, children’s activities, music, trivia games and special guests.
