Gear Up for the Stowe Craft Brew Race

Returning for its sixth year, this is the 5k in Stowe with some serious “hoppy” flavor!

Athleticism and drinking beer don’t often go hand-in-hand. But on Saturday, May 18, 2019, the Sixth Annual Stowe Craft Brew Race storms into town to add some flavor to this normal feat of fitness. But there is a lot more to this 5k in Stowe, VT than just the race and a cold one at the finish line! This is an all-day extravaganza that draws more and more participants each and every year, combining the 5k with a beer and musical festival near Mt. Mansfield, VT! Thinking about joining us for the event? Here is what you need to know…

Stowe Craft Brew RaceDate and Time – Saturday, May 18, 2019 with the start of the race set for 12:00PM (but please arrive early to allow yourself time to pick up your bib and check-in for the event)

Where – Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa is the starting line for the race. Yet the race itself is more or less a Stowe Recreation Path 5k, with the bulk of the mileage being spent winding through the scenic landscapes of our picturesque countryside along this paved trail.

Rewards – All participants will receive a medal, pint glass, and entry into the beer festival after the event.

Beer and Music Festival (Mt. Mansfield area) – Anyone 21 and older can purchase a ticket for this event after the race. The festival includes beer sampling, live music, and food trucks/vendors selling their wares onsite.

After an exciting day of brews and brawn, be prepared and plan on returning to the Green Mountain Inn with a medal around your neck and a “hoppy” smile on your lips. Whether you are staying in town or just a local looking to unwind after the craft beer festival in Stowe, relax and enjoy dinner at our on-site restaurant, The Whip Bar & Grill.


Summer in Vermont – Stowe Hiking Edition!

The warmer weather months are the perfect time to seek out some of the top hiking trails in Stowe, Vermont!

The Green Mountain InnThe Green Mountain State is a dream vacation spot for any outdoor enthusiast. Hikers of various skill levels will find miles upon miles of trails in Stowe, Vermont! Whether you are looking for one of the more popular trails for family backpacking in Stowe, Vermont or just want the best place to take a stroll with your pup, a good place to start your journey is at Underhill State Park. Open from Memorial Day weekend through late October, this park is known for its hiking trails, four of which lead to the summit ridge of Mt. Mansfield, Stowe, VT tallest peak!

Within the expanse Mt. Mansfield State Forest, this park is the perfect place for a day outdoors with the whole family, including not only some of the best day hikes near Stowe, Vermont. Every trail may not be right for every level of hiker, so we put together a quick little guide of the most popular to help you decide:

  • CCC Road – (1.1 miles) The easiest and perfect for Underhill National Forest family hikes
  • Sunset Ridge Trail – (2.0 miles) May be considered one of the best for intermediate hiking in Vermont, and the most popular. This scenic pathway to the summit of Mt. Mansfield will give you great views of all of the distinct “facial features” of the rock formation (forehead, nose, lips, chin, and Adam’s apple). And don’t be fooled, the “chin” is actually the highest point!
  • Laura Cowles Trail – (1 mile) This hike may be the most direct route to the “chin”, but it is also the steepest and most difficult.
  • The Long Trail - Built between 1910 and 1930 by the Green Mountain Club, the Long Trail offers 272 miles of footpath and 166 side trails.

Inspiration Abounds During the Stowe Weekend of Hope

Don’t ever give up the fight by celebrating life at this year’s Cancer Survivors Retreat in Stowe, Vermont!

In the last 25 years, the cancer rate has dropped 27% but it is easy to forget when it hits close to home for so many. Stowe Weekend of Hope has helped families affected by this cope through empathy and compassion. Now in its 19th year, the Stowe Weekend of Hope is set to return to our area on Friday, May 3 through Sunday, May 5, providing three-days of education, healing, and support activities to cancer survivors, their families, and caregivers. With support from the Stowe Area Association, Northern New England Clinical Oncology Society, and more, the core values of this inspirational retreat in Stowe, Vermont remain the same as the attendance continues to grow.

One of the aspects that makes this specific health and wellness retreat in Vermont such a unique experience is that it provides support for the whole family. Continuing to grow as one of the top cancer survivor events in Vermont, organizers have alleviated a lot of the financial burden and stress on the families, especially those attending for the first time! First-Time Attendees receive free lodging with discounted rates for returning guests.

Continually highlighted in Vermont Living Magazine as one of the most significant fundraising events in the state annually, this special weekend of events includes a schedule full of panels and activities with some of the top oncologists in the nation for cancer survivors and their families. There are a large variety of events fit for the whole family, which include healing activities like yoga, swimming, biking and other recreational sessions, therapeutic workshops, and informative panels.
