Hear ye, Hear ye! The 4th Annual Vermont Renaissance Faire is Almost Here!

Returning on June 22, experience the romance and adventure of this annual New England Renaissance Faire.

Join all of the lords and ladies of the New England realm as the  Vermont Renaissance Faire returns to Stowe for a fourth year! There will be no fire-breathing dragons to worry about – just two full days of merry, old-timey fun for the entire family! This premier New England Renaissance Faire is held once again at the Mayo Events Fields in Stowe on June 22nd and 23rd.

Vermont Renaissance FaireSo if there are no dragons, what can one expect from this weekend of merriment and mirth? The Faire is a family-friendly event, suitable for all ages, with kids under 6 getting in for free! Throughout the fairgrounds, you will find artisans and craft vendors from across all of New England selling their Medieval-inspired wares. Not to be outdone by any of the other Stowe Vermont fairs, there will also be a bevy of food and drink vendors ensuring that you have the proper sustenance to keep you in the spirit of the gathering.

The entertainment never stops as musicians, dancers, and acrobats troll the field throughout the day. Historical demos and encampments set the scene to make the 21st century slip back to the times of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Speaking of knights, with jousting and swordplay, jesters, pirates, fairies, and even maybe a unicorn sighting, there will sure to be many a unforgettable memory made.

While coming to the Faire in your best medieval garb is not required (but always a delight), having a comfortable place of lodging should be! Conveniently located less than a mile away, The Green Mountain Inn is an ideal place to rest your head. You’ll be sure to find that our pairing of old New England charm and modernly-appointed accommodations is the perfect way to come back to the present from your trip back in time.

Memorial Day weekend has long been the traditional “kick off of summer” in our country. In Stowe, Vermont, this is no different as each and every year, this sun-filled season is heralded in with the annual Chowderpalooza festivities. Stowe Vibrancy, an organization whose mission is to enhance the cultural characteristics of the town, sponsors eight major events in the calendar year. Not surprising, their “kick off” for the 2019 calendar is Chowderpalooza & Spring Art on Park.

Chowderpalooza & Spring Art on ParkTaking place on Park Street in the Stowe Village, this beloved annual tradition will be held on Saturday, May 25 from 11:30AM – 2:30PM (rain date – Sunday, May 26). The festival is full of food and fun for the whole family, spotlighting many local talent from the Stowe area:

Chowder tastings and competition – the heart and soul of the event is the competition for People’s Choice of Best Chowder. Many Stowe restaurants compete for this crown and a $6 entry fee will give you a taste of each and every one. Then, let your voice be heard as you help select the best of the best. Last year’s winner was the Trapp Family Lodge and their Roasted Poblano Chowder with Lobster. What creation will they have for us this year? Or will the runner-up Bistro at Ten Acres swoop in and take the crown?

Art on Park – featuring Vermont-based vendors with wares including specialty foods, jewelry, and fine arts.

Live entertainment – the performer for 2019 is indie Nashville singer-songwriter Madeleine.

Family-fun activities – including face painting, henna tattoos, carnival games, balloon twisting, and more enjoyable recreation that the young and young-at-heart will enjoy.

With Chowderpalooza on Saturday, if you need a temporary home for your Memorial Day weekend in Stowe, look no further than The Green Mountain Inn. Fishing in Stowe is The Reel Deal!

Get hooked on Stowe Vermont fishing this spring and summer during your getaway to The Green Mountain State.

When the snow melts, it’s time to put away the ski poles and get ready for another beloved Stowe outdoor pastime that utilizes poles… or more accurately rods! Even though many brave the winter chill and partake in some ice angling, fishing in Stowe flourishes during the spring and summer months. With our beloved Green Mountain State having a variety of bodies of water, from lakes to rivers to streams, there are plenty of fish in the “sea” for everyone to take part.

Fishing in StoweWith virtually limitless possibilities, it can be overwhelming to start planning a Stowe Vermont fishing excursion. The Green Mountain Inn has a basic guide full of tips and tricks to get the most out of your day on the water.

To fish legally in Vermont, you will need a fishing license.

Depending upon your skill level, you’ll have a number of choices of location that each holds their own challenge.

Fishing season for most areas is restricted from mid-April to late October.

Weather conditions can vary so prepare with the appropriate gear (waders, comfortable clothes, rain gear, snacks, etc…).

We admit that all of these “tips” can still make a trip out on the water seem too much of a hassle. For even the most skilled angler, the best bet to have a memorable experience is to take a trip with a skilled outfitter such as Catamount Fishing Adventures. With over 23 years of angling experience on the waters of Stowe, they will handle all of the business aspects of this pursuit for you. No need to get your own license, rod, boat, and find that perfect spot on the water – Catamount Fishing Adventures provides it all for both their four-hour and eight-hour trips.

Be fully prepared and begin your journey with us at The Green Mountain Inn. Our Downtown hotel is the perfect home base for any Stowe Vermont fishing adventure. Relax in the comfort of our spacious accommodations, enjoy our variety of upscale amenities, and end your day with a hearty meal at our on-site restaurant, The Whip Bar & Grill.
