This beloved annual event sponsored by Stowe Vibrancy includes fun for the whole family!
Memorial Day weekend has long been the traditional “kick off of summer” in our country. In Stowe, Vermont, this is no different as each and every year, this sun-filled season is heralded in with the annual Chowderpalooza festivities. Stowe Vibrancy, an organization whose mission is to enhance the cultural characteristics of the town, sponsors eight major events in the calendar year. Not surprising, their “kick off” for the 2019 calendar is Chowderpalooza & Spring Art on Park.
Taking place on Park Street in the Stowe Village, this beloved annual tradition will be held on Saturday, May 25 from 11:30AM – 2:30PM (rain date – Sunday, May 26). The festival is full of food and fun for the whole family, spotlighting many local talent from the Stowe area:
Chowder tastings and competition – the heart and soul of the event is the competition for People’s Choice of Best Chowder. Many Stowe restaurants compete for this crown and a $6 entry fee will give you a taste of each and every one. Then, let your voice be heard as you help select the best of the best. Last year’s winner was the Trapp Family Lodge and their Roasted Poblano Chowder with Lobster. What creation will they have for us this year? Or will the runner-up Bistro at Ten Acres swoop in and take the crown?
Art on Park – featuring Vermont-based vendors with wares including specialty foods, jewelry, and fine arts.
Live entertainment – the performer for 2019 is indie Nashville singer-songwriter Madeleine.
Family-fun activities – including face painting, henna tattoos, carnival games, balloon twisting, and more enjoyable recreation that the young and young-at-heart will enjoy.
