When you picture Stowe skiing and snowboarding, do wintry weather conditions on the slopes and being bundled up in so many layers you can hardly grasp your poles or stay upright on your board come to mind? Throughout the winter months, many skiers and boarders take to the multitude of resorts to get in some shredding on fresh powder and brave frigid temperatures and the wrath of Mother Nature to do so. Did you know that if you really want to ski and snowboard Stowe, the spring months of March and April might be the most ideal options.

Spring skiing and snowboarding are not offered in all areas of the East Coast. The milder temperatures can make it harder to keep the snow on the slopes. Yet for many places throughout Stowe, Vermont, this is a challenge that is readily accepted! The higher elevations of the peaks and a little expert snowmaking skills have made our skier’s paradise open for spring skiing and snowboarding through April.

One of the most popular spots to ski or snowboard Stowe in the warmer months is Stowe Mountain Resort. With state-of-the-art snowmaking capabilities that keep even their novice hill, Spruce Peak, open into the warmer months, along with the more difficult trails down Mount Mansfield (the highest peak in all of Vermont), you will not be disappointed! The variety of slopes that they keep open promise skiers and boarders of every skill level that they will be able to have fun in the great outdoors in Stowe! By the end of April, 80% of the snow may be manmade but that doesn’t make skiing it any less fun! Better yet, you will find discounts on lift tickets and rentals for equipment as it is considered the “off-season”!

For any of your Stowe outdoor pursuits, you will want a comfortable and convenient home base to return to after your day out in the snow (and sun) is done. Located in the heart of downtown Stowe, The Green Mountain Inn is just a quick eight-mile drive away from Stowe Mountain Resort. Be sure to check out our special offers to get even more value out of your trip!
