Running-1944798_1280

This fall in Stowe, the 3rd annual Vermont 10-Miler is returning to the streets of our beautiful town to challenge runners while also raising money to promote conservationism. As the name of this newer yet still highly anticipated race through Stowe implies, the circular course is ten miles long, starting and ending at the Mayo Farm Events Field. All races in Vermont treat participants to some amazing visuals and this one is no exception as the course will take you on one of the most popular trails, the Stowe Recreation Path, for the final three miles. To end the race, Vermont and its fall resplendence are on true display as you cross the West Branch River and return back to the Mayo Farm to celebrate!

As with all Vermont races, you need to register before the event. The 10-Miler returns to Stowe, Vermont on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at 10:00 AM and the number of participants is capped at 1,800! While that may seem like a large total, this event has become a signature race during late fall in Vermont with runners coming from all over the Green Mountain State to test their mettle on the course! It is also one of the three races that encapsulate the New England 10 Miler Series, with participants of all three earning true bragging rights and a special medal for their accomplishment. A portion of your registration fee for this race will be donated to the Stowe Land Trust, whose mission is to preserve many of those beautiful open spaces that you will blaze past!

During the race, there will be water, Gatorade, and aid stations available every two miles to keep you in shape and fully hydrated. But after crossing that finish line, this outdoor fun in Stowe takes a ‘hoppy’ turn as you and your fellow participants enjoy a cold beverage of choice at the Post-Race Beer Garden! Yet even though you have completed the race, we hope you’ll continue on to The Green Mountain Inn as your true finish line! Our Downtown location is conveniently located less than a mile away from the Events Field, providing you with a comfortable home-away-from-home for all of your pre and post-race needs!

The Stowe Foliage Arts Festival is one of the most highly-anticipated signature events during fall in Stowe. As with many of the other annual events in Stowe that are produced by the New England outfitter, Craftproducers, you can expect an upscale and unique festival, even though it is now in its 37th year. Celebrating the fall foliage in Stowe at the height of the season in our area, the three-day event begins on Friday, October 11 and runs through Sunday, October 13. While the autumnal beauty may abound throughout Stowe, Vermont, Topnotch Field hosts all of the action for this event.

Just as in years past, this Stowe fall arts festival also brings together over 150 juried Fine Artists and Artisans who have their work on display for view and purchase. A few select artisans will be performing live demonstrations of their work, such as local metal sculptor Piper Strong, showcasing her welding skills in artistic form and Richard Foye, a Vermont clay artist whose raku pottery firing demonstration will surely light up the crowd!

Yet as with many events that take place in Stowe in the fall, the foliage takes center stage. Enjoying the live music and some of the delicious festival fare available throughout the weekend is made all the better when enjoying the company of your friends and family surrounded by the natural beauty of the colors of autumn. For those of a certain age, Idletyme Brewing Co. will be on hand, selling their latest beers all weekend long.

It’s beginning to look a lot like fall at our Downtown Stowe hotel. Topnotch Field is only a short drive away, making The Green Mountain Inn your perfect home-away-from-home for the weekend! Our inherent New England charm perfectly complements the feeling of this fall arts festival, yet with every modern comfort and convenience, you need for a pleasure-filled and relaxing weekend.
