Fishing in Stowe is The Reel Deal!

Get hooked on Stowe Vermont fishing this spring and summer during your getaway to The Green Mountain State.

When the snow melts, it’s time to put away the ski poles and get ready for another beloved Stowe outdoor pastime that utilizes poles… or more accurately rods! Even though many brave the winter chill and partake in some ice angling, fishing in Stowe flourishes during the spring and summer months. With our beloved Green Mountain State having a variety of bodies of water, from lakes to rivers to streams, there are plenty of fish in the “sea” for everyone to take part.

Fishing in StoweWith virtually limitless possibilities, it can be overwhelming to start planning a Stowe Vermont fishing excursion. The Green Mountain Inn has a basic guide full of tips and tricks to get the most out of your day on the water.

To fish legally in Vermont, you will need a fishing license.

Depending upon your skill level, you’ll have a number of choices of location that each holds their own challenge.

Fishing season for most areas is restricted from mid-April to late October.

Weather conditions can vary so prepare with the appropriate gear (waders, comfortable clothes, rain gear, snacks, etc…).

We admit that all of these “tips” can still make a trip out on the water seem too much of a hassle. For even the most skilled angler, the best bet to have a memorable experience is to take a trip with a skilled outfitter such as Catamount Fishing Adventures. With over 23 years of angling experience on the waters of Stowe, they will handle all of the business aspects of this pursuit for you. No need to get your own license, rod, boat, and find that perfect spot on the water – Catamount Fishing Adventures provides it all for both their four-hour and eight-hour trips.

Be fully prepared and begin your journey with us at The Green Mountain Inn. Our Downtown hotel is the perfect home base for any Stowe Vermont fishing adventure. Relax in the comfort of our spacious accommodations, enjoy our variety of upscale amenities, and end your day with a hearty meal at our on-site restaurant, The Whip Bar & Grill.

Why Midweek Skiing is The Best (Including How to Take Advantage on One of the Best Ski Deals in Stowe)

Planning ski getaways in Stowe, Vermont should not be exclusive to Saturdays and Sundays!

Green Mountain Inn

One of the top winter activities in Stowe, Vermont will continue long after spring has sprung. There’s a reason that our beloved mountainous paradise is considered ‘The Ski Capital of the East’ after all. Spring skiing in Stowe, Vermont is about to begin, and just like this activity is not exclusive to one season of the year, it’s not only a weekend pastime. Even though there are a variety of ski specials, those that fall midweek tend to bring our guests maximum pleasure. Not only in savings, but in fun!

Think about it… getaways in Stowe, Vermont that occur during the middle of the week will be clear of the heavy crowds. Those “9 to 5ers” who can’t break away from their work or the school kids that are daydreaming about spring break – they will all be away from the slopes! Not only will the traffic on the mountains be less, affording you more runs down the powder and shorter lines for the lifts, coming and going on the roads will be easier.

Another advantage of the smaller amount of people shredding down the slopes? The powder will be pristine for a lot longer than on the busy weekends. Incessant runs by countless skiers puts quite a pounding on the trails. Unlike hockey, there is no zamboni grooming those lines off your favorite slope. So, no matter how many times you trek up and down the lift, you can blaze your own trail without worrying about wear and tear hampering your descent!

Yet for many, the biggest advantage of midweek skiing will be the getaway deals in Stowe! The discounted midweek lift tickets alone will save you a pretty penny. Not to be outdone, The Green Mountain Inn has one of the best ski and stay hotel deals in Stowe! Book your room today by calling 800-253-7302 and mention the Midweek Lodging Internet Special

Celebrate the Start of Maple Sugaring Season at This Sweet Annual Tradition!

Save the date on your calendar as the Vermont Maple Open House Weekend will return on Saturday, March 23!

Green Mountain Inn

You’ll never look at a bottle of maple syrup again if you take a trip to the Green Mountain State during prime maple sugaring season! Why? Because besides skiing, there is one thing Vermonters know better than the rest of our great country – maple syrup! Not only do we love using it in a variety of culinary creations, we’re also one of its biggest producers, being the source of over 40% of the nation’s maple syrup supply! Thus, it is no small wonder that we celebrate the start of the new harvest with one of the top family friendly events in Stowe for the entire early spring!

The annual Vermont Maple Open House Weekend takes place this year on Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24. Just as the name entails, this is not an event that can be housed in one location – it is an open house to many of the sugarhouses throughout our area! Visitors will get a firsthand glimpse into the process of turning the sap of our prize sugar maples into the sticky, sweet syrup we all know and love! The process may seem simple enough, but watching the over 40 gallons of maple sap that is needed to produce a single gallon of syrup is quite an experience…especially since you’ll get to sample it!

Still not sure if this weekend is right for you? Well, we here at the Green Mountain Inn have something to help sweeten this pot of syrup a little more – our Bed and Breakfast Package. Not only will you receive a discounted rate on the room type of your choice, a full country breakfast in our Main Street Dining Room will start your day off right! And yes… maple syrup will be served!
